​Mr Robert Wong was admitted to the bar in 1984 and has more than 30 years experience as a lawyer. His principal practice is in corporate law. His work includes corporate finance which entails raising money from the public through IPOs. He was involved in more than 30 IPOs listing companies on the SGX.

​In addition, he has also advised listed companies with regards to raising funds through the issue of additional shares by way of rights issue and the issuance of debentures such as bonds, loan stock and notes. Other types of fund raising would include syndicated loans where the borrower would be borrowing from a syndicate of banks. 

He has also been involved in numerous transactions in mergers and acquisitions. Many of these mergers and acquisitions involve public listed companies and are carried out by way of takeovers pursuant to the Code on Takeovers and Mergers. Other mergers and acquisitions would comprise acquisition of private limited companies or the acquisition of businesses and  assets.

He has advised on numerous corporate restructuring. The most challenging corporate restructuring that he had advised on was the restructuring and amalgamation of 2 finance companies which took more than 2 years to complete. Other corporate restructuring would include joint ventures and shareholders' agreement.

Joint ventures would typically involve 2 or more parties coming together to carry on a business with different parties bringing to the business different skills and contributions. It is not uncommon that a party's involvement in a joint venture would be purely financial as a source of investment.
